5 Tips to reduce late payments from customers

Running an independent business means many things. One of these is that you have to keep up with customer payments. Unfortunately, you have likely already experienced the problem of late payments.

Automatic payments are one of the best ways to ensure that no one misses an invoice. Other benefits of automatic payments include faster turnaround times, less paperwork, and no need to worry about late payments.

Creating payment plans for large purchases

Sometimes, it doesn’t make sense to pay for an item all at once. Think about vehicle financing, for example. Most people don’t have $30,000 or more just sitting around in the bank to pay for their car at the point of sale.

If possible, work with your customers, particularly when you are dealing with other businesses, to create a payment plan. This might include a large down payment and then monthly debits to their account that will whittle down their balance.
